Md Kamruzzaman Honored with ‘Community Journalism Award’ in New York

27 May 2025, Md Kamruzzaman widely known as Babu Kamruzzaman, Special Correspondent of News24 Television, has been conferred with the Community Journalism Award by the World Human Rights Development (WHRD) USA, in recognition of his exceptional contributions to journalism that bridge the Bangladeshi-American diaspora and global audiences.

The award was presented on May 25, 2025, during the inauguration of WHRD’s 15th annual Pothomela (Street Festival) in Jackson Heights, New York — a hub of Bangladeshi culture and activism abroad.

The honor was formally bestowed upon Kamruzzaman by WHRD President Shah Shahidul Haque, co-organizer Dr. Enamul Haque, and other distinguished community leaders. In addition to the crest, a certificate of recognition was awarded to commemorate his impact in advancing community-focused journalism across borders.

Kamruzzaman’s work has been widely acknowledged for its depth and integrity. He is also a recipient of the Best Reporting Award from the Economic Reporters Forum (ERF), the ActionAid Young Media Fellowship (2021), and the AmCham Frontline Journalism Award, among other accolades that highlight his commitment to investigative and public interest reporting.
